ENERGY
POWER SECTOR
The components at the heart of power generation facilities need to be made from mechanically strong materials that can withstand high temperatures and resist corrosion. Our nickel, stainless steel and low alloys are vital in:
- Valves
- Pumps
- Compressors
- Boiler nozzles, clamps and shields in coal fired boilers
- Components for land-based gas turbines and their exhaust streams
- Scrubbers, dampers, duct work in flue gas processing for pollution control
- Heat exchangers and condensing equipment
- Coal and ash bins
- Expansion joints
We also provide semi and finished machined components and can provide cladding, pressure testing, assembly and fabrication services.
RENEWABLES
As the impact of climate change grows, so does the interest in power generation from sustainable sources. And Howco is deeply involved in the growing renewable energy sector.
On offshore wind farms, our nickel alloys are used in gearing and generator components. And our stainless steel is proving invaluable in tidal and wave power generation thanks to its ability to perform in spite of marine corrosion and fouling.
We are also working with operators and OEMs in the geothermal energy sector, who need alloys and finished components that enable long distance drilling at elevated temperatures and pressures in extreme, abrasive conditions.
Meanwhile, many hydroelectric installations use turbines that contain our nickel alloys to prevent erosion and corrosion.
Our nickel, stainless steel and low alloys are suitable for use in:
- Land based gas turbines creating hydrogen
- Wind turbine components
- Geothermal drilling and power generation equipment
- Hydroelectric turbine components
- Geothermal
- Hydrogen/ammonia
- Wind turbine
- Solar
- Wave/tidal
- Biomass
- LNG
- Nuclear
- CCUS
We also provide semi and finished machined components and can provide cladding, pressure testing, assembly and fabrication services.
