JORDAN’S STORY
Jordan started as an apprentice in 2024 and is going from strength to strength!
What made you want to undertake an apprenticeship?
I wanted to pursue an apprenticeship because it offers a unique combination of hands-on experience and shadowing. This approach allows me to gain practical skills in a real-world environment, whilst also continuing my education.
How did you come across the opportunity at Howco?
I came across the opportunity through an engineering training/apprenticeship provider and when they introduced me to the apprenticeship program, I was immediately drawn to Howco’s reputation for excellence in the engineering industry. The opportunity to work with such an established company is something I couldn’t pass up.
Can you describe a typical day in your role? What do you enjoy most about it/working for Howco?
A typical day in my role involves setting up and operating CNC machines with the professional shadowing me, performing maintenance checks such as cleaning work areas and coolant levels and ensuring that any part meets the precise specifications required. I enjoy the problem solving of my work especially if my tutor and I reduce work times which will enhance efficiency.
Can you share a memorable achievement or project you’ve been a part of whilst working here?
A memorable experience has been shadowing various departments and learning aspects of CNC operations. This hands-on exposure has given me valuable insights into the workflow and processes, and I look forward to applying these learnings to future projects.
