Howco Receives ‘Made In Sheffield’ Accreditation

Howco is proud to be world class, worldwide but we’re also very proud of our roots – some of which are firmly planted in the north of England’s steel and industrial heartland. That’s why we’re so pleased to announce that we have received the world recognised ‘Made in Sheffield’ mark.

Holding the ‘Made in Sheffield’ mark is only possible for businesses located within the ‘S’ postcode area of the UK. This designation is awarded exclusively to those enterprises which manufacture goods in the South Yorkshire city.

Having acquired the well-known Sheffield business ‘Henry Whitham & Sons’ at Carbrook Street in 2001, Howco more than fits the bill. In fact, we continue to operate from this site today. The ‘Made in Sheffield’ recognition complements the site’s long standing ISO accreditations  ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001: 2015, ISO 45001:2018 & ISO 50001:2018.

Today, it’s also the site of our UKAS approved test laboratory. Just minutes away from the well-known ‘Five Weirs Walk,’ it’s also a great location for the 120 Howco team members who are based here.

If you’re not familiar with Sheffield, it has an extensive history as a producer city. Enshrined in an Act of Parliament dating back all the way to 1624, goods manufactured in the area have an inherent quality assurance attached to them. This aligns perfectly with Howco’s own commitment to delivering outstanding solutions to metals and components supply to clients in sectors such as oil and gas, power generation and renewables industries. It’s fitting that our products that are made in Sheffield end up around the world, and in some of the most hostile, challenging environments known to man.
